Camping

We camped Saturday night at Burnt Rancheria, a campground in the Laguna Mountains about an hour away from San Diego.  Sophia was a great camper.  She loved exploring the campground, going hiking (we let her wear her pajamas on the morning hike), and telling stories around the campfire. Ben got really dirty but enjoyed it too.  When he woke up at 5 am, Jake took him to the nearest Starbucks (26 miles away) to hang out so we didn't wake up everyone. It was crisp at night and great during the day.  The Pacific Crest Trail runs next to the campground and we hiked a bit of it to an overlook where you can see down into the desert. As we were leaving the campground, we saw a bobcat lying in some tall grass.  It saw us and ran away, but it was pretty cool to see. Hearing the wind in the pine trees, seeing all the stars in the sky, and telling stories by a campfire were good experiences to share with the kids.
