Sophia started her first day of preschool today. It's run by a local church and follows the Reggio Emilia model. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sophia spends an hour playing outside, an hour in the outdoor art classroom, and an hour in her classroom. She has two teachers and 8 other kids in her class.
We gave her teachers a picture of us to keep in the classroom for her and filled out a star with our hopes for her this year. We hope she has fun, is creative, makes friends, and tries new things. Jake had fun taking Sophia and reported in an e-mail, "Drop off went great. She was, at first, reluctant to put her nametag lanyard on, but Ms. Cook talked her into it. She very quickly found a cozy cab (a convertible) that occupied her. She gave me a kiss--but not a hug because 'I'm in my car.'"
When I got home from work today, I asked Sophia to tell me about preschool. She said she drove the green convertible car, played with the fluffy balls and the light table, painted, and sang the bumble bee song. She also told me how she wants to go back to play some more and to use the potty.
Waiting for dad to take her to school.
Goofy smile in front of the welcome board.
Meeting Ms. Cook.
The infamous lanyard.
I think Sophia spent a lot of time in this car.
